Different Types of Telecom Tower in India

With the sudden upsurge in mobile subscribers, there is a constant need of providing efficient network connections to every mobile user in India. Telecom towers ensure effective wireless communication and ensure a strong network with optimized bandwidth. In order to reduce call dropout, telecom towers are installed in various geographic locations. To carry out this connectivity network, various types of telecom towers are installed.

Here in this article, we will discuss different types of towers which are installed in different locations for better connectivity of network in your area.

Lattice Tower

Lattice towers are also referred to as "self-supporting towers". These freestanding towers are segmentally designed with triangular and rectangular base steel. The lattice towers have flexible designing which means they are useful in a situation where modification is required such as connecting dish antenna and several panels. These are mostly used for heavy load electricity transmission, as a radio tower and observation tower.

Tubular Tower

The tubular steel towers are installed for maneuvering high loads. The towers are manufactured with elements in tubular sections that are joined together for enhancing the strength of the tower. These towers are mainly installed in deserted areas, like in the outskirt of the city to improve the network spectrum.

Angular Tower

It is preferred for small towers which have a lighter load than other towers. Angular towers are comparatively cost-effective and are mostly installed on rooftops.

Depending upon the installation of the tower, the towers are further classified into two other types.

Ground-Based Tower

The ground-based towers are installed on the ground with a suitable foundation. The towers have a height of 30-200m; the height of a ground-based telecom tower is 40m. These towers can support up to 12-panel antennas and up to three 0.6m diameter microwave solid dish antennas. These towers have a competitively higher load-bearing capacity.

Rooftop Towers

The rooftop towers are installed above the roof of a high-rise building. Above the roof, with raised columns and tie beams, the towers are installed. The height of the tower can vary from 9-30m. The service provider evaluates the tower erection and the height to decide on the number of antennas that can be fixed with the tower.

Factors That Impact Tower Design

=> Geographical location and population density of the area.

=> Aerial height requirement for installation of each system.

=> The direction of the antennas.

=> Size and weight of each element that is installed with the tower, such as feeders or cables.

=> Possible future extension.

=> Cost of maintenance.

=> Aesthetic appearance

Conclusion

The strength and rigidity are the key factors to consider while installing a telecom tower. Utkarsh India adheres to the guidelines issued by TEC for both ground-based towers and rooftop towers for meeting safety standards.
